At neurobox, we believe that true inclusion begins with recognising and valuing the strengths of every individual. Too often, conversations around neurodiversity focus solely on challenges and barriers, overlooking the incredible creativity, problem-solving ability, empathy, and innovation that neurodivergent people bring to the table. We wanted to change that narrative.
That’s why we were so excited to collaborate with Katherine Jennick and What’s your strength? to create a new deck of strength cards designed specifically to celebrate neurodivergent talents. From our work supporting individuals and organisations, we know how transformative it can be when people start to see and articulate their unique strengths.
Partnering on this project felt like a natural fit – combining our expertise in neurodiversity with the empowering approach of What’s your strength?
Together, we’ve created a tool that not only supports individuals in recognising their strengths but also helps families, educators, and workplaces to build more inclusive and support environments.

What’s your strength – the story behind the cards
For over 20 years I’ve support inspiring, resilient, and creative young people but they often can’t recognise these strengths in themselves. As a Careers Coach, I see the impact this has on their self-esteem, self-awareness, and ability to make choices and plan for their future. So, I decided to do something about it and create an empowering activity to enable all young people to shine. In 2019 What’s your strength? was born!
I quickly realised that it wasn’t just young people who struggle to recognise their strengths – adults do too! We all have a tendency to focus on negative traits so I wanted to bring a better balance and empower people to see their positive selves – In 2020, the adult pack was released. Following soon after came the third pack – Let’s get started! – made in collaboration with Skills Builder to shine a light on the strengths of individuals with additional needs.
Six years on and over 5,000 packs across 19 different countries, I still received regular messages like this one:
“These cards are job changing, they make such a difference to me and the clients I support everyday.”
Knowing that these little packs of positivity are empowering so many people is an absolute dream come true.
Why create a ‘What’s your strength’ pack for neurodiversity?
Neurodivergence is a natural and valuable part of human diversity. Yet too often, the focus is on an individual’s challenges rather than recognising their many unique strengths. From creative thinking and problem solving to intuition and empathy, these strengths enrich our homes, communities, workplaces and education settings.
Of course, it’s important to recognise difficulties – for an equitable and inclusive environment, individuals must be able to ask for what they need and be support appropriately. But to really thrive, they also need to recognise their strengths – that’s when they can really shine.
There’s an abundance of skill, talent and qualities within the neurodivergent community. These cards have been designed to shine a light on those strengths, encouraging a more inclusive and strength-based understanding neurodivergence. Whether the cards are used by a neurodivergent individual, someone supporting them, or an organisation wishing to be more neuroinclusive, these are suggested activities in each pack.
How do you use what’s your strength cards?
For neurodivergent individuals, there are exercises to improve self-awareness, build confidence, support with job search, and encourage self-advocacy at work.
For anyone playing a supportive role, these exercises can build connection, understanding, and encourage more inclusive and supportive relationships.
For organisations and businesses striving to be more neuroinclusive, there are suggested activities to use the cards as a training tool to promote a more inclusive and strength-based culture and create environments where neurodivergent talent can thrive.
A perfect partnership: What’s your Strength X neurobox
Collaboration makes my heart sing! I love to join forces with likeminded people who share my passion of empowering others. Since launching What’s your strength? I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with several incredible organisations; National Careers Week, Skills Builder Partnership, BBC Bitesize, and Children’s University to name but a few.
So, when Dr Deborah Leveroy, Head of Research & Insights at neurobox got in touch to ask about creating a collaborative deck of cards, I couldn’t say YES fast enough!
Mine and Deborah’s paths first crossed a few years ago when she was the Neurodiversity and Inclusion Lead at neurobox. She had used the adult pack of What’s your strength cards and contacted me to share her thoughts:
“The cards are an inspiration! I use them with my coaching clients to enable them to recognise the richness of their lived experience and identify their strengths. I also use them on myself, as they’re a great professional development tool!”
Working alongside Deborah and Donna Stevenson, Head of Training Services at neurobox, has been an absolute joy. Their expertise and wisdom were invaluable and I’m so proud of what we have created together. For anyone who purchases the cards, I hope they enjoy using them as much as we enjoyed making them.
A few words from Dr Deborah Leveroy...
“At neurobox, we believe that recognising and celebrating strengths is at the heart of creating inclusive conversations and workplaces. That’s why collaborating with Katherine at What’s Your Strength? felt like such a natural step for us. Her ethos of empowering people to identify, value, and communicate their strengths aligns closely with our own vision of creating environments where neurodivergent and disabled talent can find their voice.
These cards are more than just a resource – they are a practical, engaging way to support self-advocacy, confidence, and self-awareness. For neurodivergent individuals, they encourage reflection, metacognition, and the language to describe both needs and unique strengths. For managers, coaches, and organisations, they provide an accessible way to raise awareness, shift perceptions, and promote a more strengths-based culture.
Together with Katherine, we’ve co-created this new deck with the aim of sparking conversations, building confidence, and encouraging a deeper understanding of neurodiversity. We are proud to play a part in shaping a resource that empowers individuals, strengthens supportive relationships, and helps organisations move towards genuine inclusion”.
