Sensory Readable: Next-Level Text-to-Speech Support

Sensory Readable® for Windows is an innovative software suite that assists with reading and writing providing s real-time spoken feedback of the words under the mouse cursor, making reading more accessible.

It is the latest software from Sensory App House Ltd and is the creation of Paul Blenkhorn, Emeritus Professor of Assistive Technology at Manchester University. Paul, the creator of ClaroRead in 2004, has been a pioneer in the field of assistive technology.

Paul also developed the first Windows Narrator tool for Microsoft, which helps blind users access Windows using speech. With his expertise and dedication to accessibility, Paul has played a vital role in advancing technologies that empower neurodiverse individuals or people with disabilities.

  • Writing and proofreading in Word – provide additional accessibility support for writing tools such as dictionaries, references, spellchecking or speech dictation. Readable includes a homophone identifier allowing you to identify and check tricky words.

 

  • Detection – Readable detects and announces other information if chosen, such as menu, button, link, work prediction or tooltips which might aid in understanding content and navigating applications more effectively.

 

  • Optical character recognition – includes locally installed optical character recognition to convert inaccessible typed text to accessible, for speaking and editing – the text extractor will capture and speak text in the area you selected with your cursor
