Our Assistive Technology Training Process

Our training sessions are available in a customisable format to ensure every client can find the right ‘fit’ for them.

The process of arranging training follows 3 simple steps:

  • Step 1 - Training Quote Enquiry

    The first step is contacting our sales department to discuss the customisable elements of the service, such as:

    Training Type – What type of software/equipment training is required?

    Duration – How many sessions are needed, and what length should they be delivered in?

    Format – Is Remote (online) or On-site (face-to-face) training required?

    Our sales team will then provide a quote for the services requested.

  • Step 2 - Payment

    Once the upfront payment or purchase order has been received, we will provide an invoice and look to allocate a suitable trainer.

  • Step 3 - Training

    The allocated trainer will reach out directly to the client to arrange suitable dates to begin the training sessions. We leave the booking process with our trainer and the client to reduce delays in communication.

How is our Assistive Technology Training Delivered?

Our training sessions for visual impairment software and technology are One-to-One sessions delivered in 3-hours blocks.

We understand not everyone learns in the same way, which is why our visual impairment technology training can be delivered both remotely and on-site, depending on our clients’ preferences:

  • This training is completed via Microsoft Teams with one of our trainers. This method can offer increased levels of flexibility and convenience.

  • This training is completed in-person, with one of our trainers traveling to an agreed location to deliver the session. This method can offer a more interactive session with less distractions.

 Screenreaders are products that have been designed to improve accessibility to digital devices. They are often used to help those with severe sight loss or blindness.

These products allow users to navigate devices i.e. computers/smartphones, by converting their displays into audio prompts. An example of this would be having the screenreader convert navigation options into audio prompts, removing the need for visuals.

  • Yes, our trainer will guide the participant through the key features and functions of the product, as well as offering hands-on demonstrations that the clients can follow/test in real time. Please note: our training requires clients to have access to the software/technology being covered.

  • Yes, under the Equality Act 2010, employers can be required to offer assistive technologies if these have been marked as ‘reasonable adjustments’ for the employee in question.
