“Why did I become a workplace strategy coach?”
This was a question recently posed to me…
This prompted deep reflection and introspection. As I pondered my reasons and engaged in meaningful sessions with my clients, I discovered many compelling factors that propelled me to embark on this transformative career path.
In this blog, I will share my personal journey, the lessons learned from overcoming obstacles associated with dyslexia and neurodivergence, and the profound impact I strive to make as a workplace strategy coach.
Desire to help others
My innate desire to help others, particularly individuals who are neurodivergent like myself, lies at the core of my choice to become a workplace strategy coach and is the real driving force. Having experienced the challenges and emotions associated with dyslexia, personally and through my neurodivergent child, I encountered numerous barriers and struggled to articulate my internal experiences effectively. I trusted the negative narratives and limitations surrounding dyslexia that others imposed upon me. I internalised self-doubt and suffered in silence for years. However, when my journey as a mother unveiled my son’s dyslexia, I embarked on a quest to empower him and myself. Researching and learning about dyslexia provided a transformative shift in perspective, revealing the strengths inherent in neurodivergence. Determined to ensure my son embraced his condition positively, I started to educate myself. I began to learn about what dyslexia really is. This was enlightening as I started to understand myself and how I ticked. This gave me a deeper understanding of my condition and, in turn, myself.
Passion for coaching
This insight has helped me to support and encourage other individuals to understand their condition more and to view it in a different way. Witnessing these enlightening moments and positive transformations in others fills me with immense warmth and motivation.
While serving as a senior Human Resource (HR) and Operations manager overseeing diverse departments and teams, I discovered my passion for coaching individuals, especially those with neurodivergent traits and those yearning for personal growth. This ignited an unquenchable fire within me, propelling me towards a career that held deeper purpose and meaning. Guiding neurodivergent individuals to dream beyond perceived limitations became my mission. Harnessing the skills learned as a senior manager and drawing upon my HR background, coupled with my first-hand experience of neurodivergence, I embraced workplace strategy coaching as the path to fulfill my calling. This vocation enables me to utilise my strengths as a dyslexic individual—such as problem-solving, empathy, and reasoning skills—to empower others, helping them transcend silence, limitations, and self-imposed barriers.
A partnership
Within this role, I have been privileged to support individuals from various backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, apprentices, and senior managers, spanning a broad spectrum of professional roles. Each client brings a unique set of aspirations, challenges, and perspectives. Collaborating with them, I cultivate a partnership that is rooted in learning and growth. I witness profound transformations as I assist them in creating effective strategies and exploring their thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential space. From achieving personal goals to gaining a deeper understanding of their conditions and, ultimately, themselves, my clients evolve into empowered individuals. This role not only allows me to make a difference but also presents diverse opportunities for my own personal growth, such as public speaking engagements, podcast appearances, and delivering neurodiversity awareness training.
Untapped potential
Being able to shine the light on the unseen potential in the realm of workplace strategy coaching, I have come to recognise the vast untapped potential that lies dormant within employees of many organisations. Internal coaching may offer support, but the distinct benefits of external coaching are undeniable. By providing an open and safe environment for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and challenges, I facilitate the construction of effective communication strategies and help individuals to reach their full potential. I firmly believe that every individual deserves to experience happiness and support in the workplace. Through my work, I have witnessed the profound impact that coaching can have on individuals, not only in terms of organisational planning and time management skills but also in bolstering their confidence, self-belief, and overall performance. The benefits are truly outstanding, and I am committed to extending this transformative experience to as many individuals as possible.

Through workplace strategy coaching, I strive to empower individuals, fostering an environment where diverse talents are celebrated and barriers are dismantled. Together, let us astound ourselves by unravelling the incredible capabilities that lie within each and every one of us.
