Caption.Ed – New Licence Structure

What is Caption.Ed?

For those of us familiar with Caption.Ed it needs no introduction, for those of us who are unfamiliar with it, Caption.Ed (from CareScribe) is a captioning and transcription tool – but also a whole lot more!

Caption.Ed can generate a live, real-time, transcript of any audio on your computer or device. Remote meetings like Zoom or Teams, audio from files, and online content like videos are just a few examples – and it’s incredibly accurate and fast!

But more than this, while it’s generating the live transcripts Caption.Ed lets you highlight important information, upload additional media like PowerPoint slides, and even add your own notes to the transcripts, all while the conversation is happening – a real benefit for those of us who need to revisit our notes at a later date to revise what was said, or just to recall the most important bits later.

The ability to be able to see and read what is being spoken, live and accurately, combined with the ability to add notes and highlight text make Caption.Ed a great piece of assistive technology not only for people with hearing difficulties but also for those of us who are neuro different, and perhaps find it difficult to participate in meetings whilst making useful notes at the same time.

Caption.Ed works on all devices including computers, tablets and phones. The only requirement is an Internet connection because all data is processed in the cloud. However, to allay fears around security and GDPR all cloud processing is done in the UK and all content is AES–256 and TLS encrypted.

New Licence Structure

From the 1st August 2023, Caption.Ed will have a new pricing structure designed for Access to Work offering three different licence options. The functionality will be the same for each level but the monthly transcription allowance will vary from 1,000 minutes for the Lite option, 3,000 minutes for Pro, to 9,000 minutes for Expert – which works out to a massive 7.1/2 hrs per day of transcription based on a 20 working day month.
